About The Swimmer Program

Recently Centennial Pool has switched swim programs to the lifesaving instructional program. The following is a list of the swim classes being offered. Swimmer lessons begin at age 5, under 5 years of age we offer a parent and tot swim class. Classes run for 10 weeks at 30minutes per lesson. HST Is not charged for participants under 18 years of age.

Class Details

Preschool 1 & 2

Description:

In our preschool progressions we work to ensure 2-5 year-olds become comfortable in the water and have fun developing a foundation of water skills.  

Cost: $50

Prerequisites: N/A

Swimmer 1

Description:

These beginning swimmers will work on safe entries, exits and moving through the water. When they are ready they’ll do floats, glides and kicking on their fronts and backs without assistance. They’ll explore jumping into deeper water and treading with their lifejackets on.

Cost: $55

Prerequisites: N/A

Swimmer 2

Description:

These children will be able to jump or side roll into deep water, tread water, and swim (10 -15m) using either front crawl or back crawl. They’ll try vertical whip kick and begin to work on their endurance level by stepping into the world of fitness and interval training.

Prerequisites: Swimmer 1

Swimmer 3

Description:

These swimmers will dive and do forward rolls into deep water. Watch them learn handstands and front somersaults underwater. They’ll work on their front crawl, back crawl and whip kick over short distance and add some interval training to their practice. By the end they’ll be able to meet the swim to survive standard: roll into deep water, tread 1 minute, and swim 50m.

Prerequisites: Swimmer 2

Swimmer 4

Description:

These swimmers will swim further with their front crawl and back crawl. They’ll get introduced to breast stroke arm drills, underwater swims, and front crawl sprints. Interval training will add to their fitness level.
Cost: $55

Prerequisites: Swimmer 3

Swimmer 5

Description:

These swimmers will try egg beater kick, head up front crawl, shallow dives. Just for fun tuck jumps and backward somersaults. They’ll easily go the distance with a strong front crawl and back crawl and breast stroke.

Cost: $55

Prerequisites: Swimmer 4

Swimmer 6

Description:

These swimmers will master egg beater and scissor kicks, front crawl, breaststroke and back crawl. With the interval training and sprint racing drills they’ll be ready to complete the 300m swim endurance workout. And just for fun they’ll try stride jumps and compact jumps
